C Fodoreanu

C Fodoreanu was born into a family with a long tradition of icon painting in Transylvania, Romania. He started painting before inherently transitioning to different mediums and modalities to create his art, from creative writing, photography and collages, to videos, installations and sculptures. His work pursues a poetry of light, and explores the human body as a metaphor for how humans relate to the surrounding nature and each other, faith, mythology, play, love, intimacy, memory, fleetingness of time, and the fragility of life. C Fodoreanu holds a BA in Philosophy from UC San Diego, an MD from Harvard Medical School, and a Master of Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts in New York. As a physician who studied philosophy and art, he developed an intimate knowledge of the human anatomy and psyche, and a keen psycho-social acumen. This affords him a unique position as an artist to relate, transcend, and personalize his understandings of humans and human nature into layered visual works. He is the author of three poetry books (Romanian), a photography monograph (English), and his visual work belongs to private collections throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

At their table, they will have a book signing and book sale of "Ode to the Lake Sacalaia". Limited edition copies of this book and associated merchandise including T-shirts, hoodies, and small prints will be available for sale at a discounted festival price. This first monograph by interdisciplinary artist and physician C Fodoreanu is a book of deeply personal photographs and writings, depicting images of water and people taken at Lake Sacalaia, a mysterious lake in Transylvania where underwater demons protect its secrets, exploring the tension of self-discovery and identity, queer or not, and the in-between states of one's self-awareness, paying homage to younger selves searching for faith and ideals, reconnecting to what holds one true to oneself, towards making sense of the loss of potential that he witnesses in his pediatrics practice. This gorgeous book uses a haptic approach to represent the changing depths and pressure of water and self-examination, progressively moving toward thinner paper for each of the three sections of the book. The cover has three die cuts which trace the depth of the water from the lake’s topographic lines. The fifty-two images contained in the book are reproduced as tritones with the middle color section printed with a blue ink, and are bound via sewn otabind with square spine, dust jacket and flaps, sure to please the most formidable art book collector.

Jayme Meza

My name is Jayme and I am a San Diego born and raised photographer. I have always loved many forms of art and while studying documentary filmmaking in college I found my love for film photography.

I will be presenting my photo book, La Luz Del Dia. My photo book is a collection of photos from a trip to Mexico City in August 2019. My sister took me on this trip so we could connect more with our own culture and explore a beautiful place. The title, La Luz Del Día, came from just how beautiful Mexico City is and how during a sunny day, the city just seems to glow.
