Every year we host our signature exhibition Size Matters, during the annual Medium Festival of Photography.

Size Matters celebrates photo based artwork smaller than 10”. Previous exhibitions have included 35mm contact prints to multi-media digital work, sculptural works, camera-less images, and exquisite 8”x10” contact prints. No matter what kind of camera you use (or if you don’t use a camera) Size Matters is the premier photography exhibition celebrating small works.

Exhibition reception and awards ceremony April 27, 5:00 - 7:00pm

Exhibition runs April 2 - 27, 2024 at the Athenaeum Art Center in San Diego

Exhibition Juror

We’re proud to welcome Crista Dix as the 2024 Size Matters exhibition juror. Crista is the Executive Director of the Griffin Museum in Winchester, MA.

Crista will consider all photographic media for the exhibition, selecting 40 works to be exhibited with one artist selected to receive the Size Matters purchase prize ($1000). That work will be purchased by Medium Photo and donated to a prominent museum collection. Previous purchase awards were donated to the Center for Creative Photography, Museum of Photographic Arts, and the San Diego Museum of Art.

Before her work at the Griffin Museum, Crista Dix spent fifteen years operating her own photography gallery, Wall Space Creative, closing it in 2020 to make the move to New England and the Griffin. Having a career spanning many paths she has a background rooted in science, business and creative art. This well-rounded experience provides a solid background for her role as the 2024 Size Matters juror.
