“The Wall: Witness to the War in Ukraine” is a solo exhibition of Iva Sidash’s photographs which were made in the first year of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, focused mostly on front-line towns and villages in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, which were occupied by Russia and retaken by Ukraine. According to the artist, the project “has been about pain, history, and the importance of keeping the memory alive.”

The exhibition and artist’s reception are open FREE to the public. Advance registration is not required.

About Iva Sidash
An award-winning photographer, Sidash has been a subject of podcasts and interviews on documenting the war in Ukraine. She currently is enrolled in a course at the International Center of Photography in New York, after which she is planning to return home and proceed working in Ukraine documenting war focusing on frontline villages and cities.
Iva Sidash is a documentary photographer from Ukraine. A member of the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers. Finalist of the International Fujifilm Moment Street Photo Awards 2021.
In 2021 she was working in the Ukrainian media as a photojournalist. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February of 2022, she began documenting the war, focusing on civilians in front-line cities and villages.
In April 2023, she received the Director’s Grant from the International Center of Photography for 1-year-program Documentary Practices and Visual Journalism in New York. Her work has been published in INSIDER, Forbes The Financial Times, Der Spiegel, The Fisheye Magazine, Bird in Flight, and more. Her images have been exhibited in group exhibitions in the US, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Estonia, Poland, and Ukraine.

This event takes place in the Luxe Gallery on the 5th floor of San Diego City College located inside the Career Technology Center at 16th and C St., 1081 16th St., San Diego, CA 92101
Street parking is available in the surrounding area. MTS Bus service on line 2 serves this location at the 16th and Broadway stop. Ride sharing and cycling are encouraged.
Access is free and open to the public during gallery hours from April 8–26, 2024:
Mondays–Thursdays from 10 am to 3 pm
Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm
