Lenchas y Marimachas

Inspired by the photographic endeavors "Lenchas y Marimachas" and "En Casa," this intervention seeks to spotlight the vibrant community of lesbian women who boldly defy traditional gender constructs, while also enriching the collective imagination.

Ingrid Hernandez

Ingrid Hernández is a visual artist born in Tijuana, B.C. She is a member of the National System of Art Creators.

The starting point for her work is the web of tensions and asymmetries related to the geopolitical situation along the US-Mexico border.  Her artistic research stems from the relationship she establishes with communities that self-build their housing using discarded materials from the United States and factories settled on the border, mainly in Tijuana. Frequently, her artistic investigations find form as long-term participative projects that include photography and an engagement with collective memory, gathered through interviews.

Her work has been widely exhibited both individually and collectively in Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Hernández is co-founder of Relaciones Inesperadas, an art space fostering critical arts dialogue and professional support for the Tijuana art community, established in Tijuana since 2012.

Galleria Ángulo

Galleria Ángulo emerges from the vision of Alex and Lilian García. As entrepreneurial minds, they envisioned a venture dedicated to showcasing art by local artists. Two years ago, our goal was set: to establish not just an art retail space, but also a cultural hub where diverse artistic journeys intersect, featuring both seasoned and up-and-coming talents. Our aim is to serve as a platform for the art scene, a venue for project showcases, and a gathering point for the community.

Leobardo Garcia, Gallery Director and Curator of Galleria Ángulo, has a career in art and architecture, starting with his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of UABC in Mexicali in 1998, moving through roles as a museographer at the university gallery and academic at the same institution, to holding prominent positions at the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) as head museographer and exhibition manager. Since 2022, he has been leading Ángulo Galería, demonstrating a continuous commitment to cultural dissemination and the management of artistic spaces.
