Present Tense Artist Talks

Event date: August 23, 2025, 2:00 - 5:00 pm

Present Tense Artist Talks are in-person, quarterly events hosted by Medium Photo, showcasing work from four selected photographers.

During each Present Tense Artist Talk, participating photographers share up to 20 slides of a singular body of work projected on a large screen in a repeating loop. Each photographer will discuss their work throughout the slide show and responds to a Q&A during a 15-minute period.

Present Tense Artist Talks are an informal, conversational environment moderated by Medium Photo. There is no cost to submit your work.

Laidric Stevenson, Face, 2024

LAIDRIC STEVENSON

Laidric Stevenson was born in Wisconsin but left before he could walk and talk, so he doesn’t consider himself a Midwesterner. Spending his childhood and teenage years between the bordering states of Oklahoma and Texas, he first became interested in photography around the release of Nirvana’s Nevermind album.

Due to the somewhat transient nature of his childhood, his photography is rooted in discovering a sense of place. He believes in the power of photography in the book format and is an enthusiastic self-publisher of zines and small photo books.

He spends his days in an office environment and photographs in his free time. He is based in Dallas, Texas.
