Why is this seminar unique and a ‘must do’?
This presentation is informed by Debra Klomp Ching’s history as a successful New York art dealer, having worked with numerous photographers in the public sphere, as a private consultant, and advisor. Open to the general public, this workshop helps artists navigate common questions about gallery relationships, selecting galleries that are an appropriate fit for both artist and gallery, and techniques to maintain relationships that build healthy, long-term, professional relationships.
Outcomes
As part of the presentation she will provide a candid summary of the key challenges that photographers encounter when preparing to work with a gallery—either for full representation or a one-off exhibition. This lecture will provide an overview of five essential tools that photographers need, to make the gallery/artist relationship professional, successful and potentially profitable for all parties.
This presentation is a summarized version of the Klompching Gallery's highly respected, and in-demand 2-day workshop. It has been presented in various formats at the Filter Photo Festival (Chicago, September 2019), the FotoFest Meeting Place (Houston, March 2020) and the Summer Snow Workshops (Ephraim, June 2021).
