About the Focus Scholarship
Medium Photo is excited to announce the launch of our exclusive Focus Scholarship made possible with a grant from the Immordino Charitable Foundation. The Focus Scholarship affords five artists the opportunity to participate in the 2019 Portfolio Review, to have their work seen during the 2019 Open Portfolio Walk, and attend the Keynote Lecture and Saturday Lecture Series at the 2019 Medium Festival of Photography. The Focus Scholarship also includes portfolio mentorships by Medium’s Executive Director and Program Manager leading up to the Review, in addition to lodging for three nights at the historic Lafayette Hotel in North Park, San Diego.
Applications are open to all photographic artists age 18 and older who demonstrate a financial need and readiness for review. This scholarship is ideal for both emerging and mid-career artists who are unable to attend a portfolio review due to financial reasons, but are routinely making high caliber work. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm (PST) on July 21, 2019 and must include the following:

12-20 images (72 ppi, 2000 max pixels long). Work submitted must be made in the last three years.

The Fine Print
The Focus Scholarship will be awarded to a total of (5) recipients and includes:
Portfolio mentorship leading up the Review
3 nights lodging at the Lafayette Hotel in North Park, San Diego.
8 reviews with photographic professionals from around the country.
Participation in the Open Portfolio Walk at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego (Downtown) on October 17, 2019.
1 keynote lecture ticket to see Luis González Palma on October 18, 2019.
1 pass to attend the Medium Festival and all Saturday Artist Lectures on October 19, 2019.
Successful applicants will be notified via email by August 4. The 2019 Review takes place October 17-18 in San Diego, with hotel check-in on the evening of October 16.
