Review FAQ’s

When does registration for the 2019 Review take place?

Registration for the portfolio reviews opens for 48 hours annually, beginning on April 18 at 9:00am Pacific time. We offer 65 spaces filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Typically all 65 spaces are filled in under the 48 hour window, after which time we begin a wait list.

What do I get with the Review registration?

You will receive a minimum of 8 review meetings with our 2019 Reviewers, participation in the Open Portfolio Walk on Oct. 17, admission to all festival lectures (including the Keynote Lecture) on Oct. 18-19. Portfolio Review attendees can upgrade to a Big Pass at any time.

What is the Big Pass?

The Big Pass gives access to the portfolio reviews, artist lectures, and the tour of studios and exhibition spaces in Tijuana, Mexico on Sunday, Oct. 20. It also includes access to our hosted VIP reception on Friday, Oct. 18 and a 15% discount on any items purchased in our FLASH! Pop-Up Shop on Thursday night and Saturday from 10am - 3pm.

What is the cost to attend the Medium Review?

We offer two kinds of passes to participate in the Medium Review: the standard Review registration is $595, the Big Pass is $695. Details about each are outlined above.

What if I need to cancel?

We offer refunds with no questions asked until June 1, 2019. After that time we offer refunds once we are able to fill your space through our waiting list. All refunds include a $100 processing fee, drawn from the full amount paid.

Can I transfer my portfolio review space to another photographer?

Yes! If you need to cancel we will honor your registration for another photographer. You won’t be charged an administrative fee and are responsible for handling the registration fee independently, and must notify Medium of the change. Transferred registrations completed before September 1, 2019 will be reflected in our annual Photographer’s Index, distributed to all participating artists and curators. We do not allow review registration to be divided among photographers (i.e. you and a friend cannot divide your review meetings for a single registration).
